https://team1sports.com/prepcasts/?B=236163
Set-up crew and percussion will begin setting up at 5:30PM, call time for everyone else is 6:10PM. Students will be wearing their band shirt with black pants/shoes.
See you all tonight!
2/3/2021 Update:
For those of you who are unaware, I have been out this week and will not be back until Friday, February 12th. This is definitely not something I had ever planned or wanted., however, I am choosing to focus on the blessings in the midst of a trying situation.
Our student leaders have stepped forward to help out in my absence. They have been nothing short of amazing and have truly been a blessing to me and the subs. I also have to give a huge shout out to Mrs. Starr for helping out while I am gone as well and helping me stay level headed as we've had to change things. So many people are wearing extra hats right now and I want them to know how thankful I am for all they are doing.
Since I won't be back until the 12th, there's no way I can be there to conduct the February 8 Pop's Concert (or Mr. Ray stream the event and sing at the event). After working and discussing things with Mr. Chapman today, we will be moving the Pop's Concert to Monday, February 22, at 6:30PM in the WHS Gymnasium.
Also, pep band for this Friday, February 5, is cancelled. I will be back for the February 12th game so we will resume then.
Please save this new date and let me know if there are any issues, I am sorry that it had to be changed.
Hope you all are staying healthy,
1/22/2021 Update:
2nd semester is in full swing and we are so incredibly thankful that we are able to make music together every day! It's a joy and honor and something that we do not take for granted. Our students have helped make this possible by following our distance protocol during rehearsals so well.
Please find an updated calendar attached to this email (also updated at www.warrensburgbands.com).
Our concerts for 3rd quarter are February 8th and March 11th. These events will still be ticketed but they will also be livestreamed.
Jazz Band (while not meeting until fourth quarter) will still be doing pep band. Jazz students have pep band on 1/27, 1/29, 2/5, 2/12, 2/19, and 2/23. They will be drafted during Academy on those days to rehearse together.
We successfully got all recordings for All District Band auditions done and submitted. Results will be posted this next week and any one that qualifies to audition for all-state will be notified by me.
MSHSAA Solo and Small Ensemble will only occur at the state level this year virtually. All symphonic band students are required to take a solo or a small ensemble and concert band students are encouraged to. I have before school and after school times for students to sign-up for so that I can work with them. Please note, I must hear each event twice before the mock contest on February 24.
Winter Drumline will be starting and students participating will receive a schedule on Monday. I will also post that calendar in the drumline tab on the website.
Our band card fundraiser is going incredibly well. If you have band card money, please turn that in. If you still want to sell the cards you have that's okay, I will update your contract to reflect that. We just want to make sure we get all checks and cash deposited in a timely fashion. Please have your student bring it in a marked envelope and turn it in to me.
Thank you for your continued support and please let us know if you have any questions,
12/14/2020 Update:

Don't forget, it's in the Lecture Hall!
Thank you all and have a great holiday season!
12/9/2020 Update:
We are looking forward to tonight!

12/4/2020 Update:
Tomorrow (12/5), the WHS Honors Jazz Band will be performing at A Dicken's Christmas. The performance starts at 1PM on the Courthouse Lawn. This is a great, socially distanced holiday event! Please join us with a lawn chair and enjoy the festive music.
Wednesday, December 9th, is our WHS Holiday Bands Concert. The WHS Concert and Symphonic Bands will be performing. The concert starts at 6:30PM and students need to arrive at 6:10PM. We will wear the same thing we did for our October concert, which was black pants, their WHS Band shirt from this fall, black shoes and socks. Students will each receive two tickets for the concert. PrepCasts has graciously agreed to stream the event for us as well so we will send that specific link out next week for you all.
On Monday, December 14th, the WHS JV Jazz and Honors Jazz Band will be performing in the Lecture Hall at 6PM. Call time will be 5:30PM in their jazz performance attire.
The WHS Band Cards are hot off the press and will be available at the concert on Wednesday. We will have contracts available for parents to sign-out cards to start selling that evening. This is an important fundraiser and they are FANTASTIC cards that are good for an entire year! If you need any stocking stuffers or something to put in a card for someone local, this is a fantastic option!
Please let me know if you have any questions.
11/18/2020 Update:
Jazz Band:
Happy week before Thanksgiving! The jazz bands have been busy and I just wanted to make sure that you all are aware of our jazz band dates that we have coming up. A schedule was sent home two weeks ago but just in case you haven't seen it, here are the dates. The band calendar on the website has also been updated to reflect these dates.
JV Jazz and Honors Jazz team up for pep band and will kick-off the pep band season on Monday, November 30th, for Meet the Tigers. Students need to report at 5:15PM in their jazz t-shirt and jeans. Musicians will receive two tickets each for you to come and watch.
Honors Jazz will be performing at a Dicken's Christmas, Saturday, December 5, 1PM at Fitters. Call time is 12:30PM in Jazz dress shirt, red bow tie, black pants and black dress shoes, and a festive hat.
JV and Honors Jazz will perform on 12/4 and 12/7 for basketball. Call time is 5:30PM. We perform for halftime of the JV game, in between JV and varsity, and then half time of Varsity. Our musicians will sit in the bleachers and support the team when we aren't playing. Students will wear their WHS Jazz t-shirt and jeans for this. (Please note, we also have pep band games 1/27, 1/29, 2/5, 2/12, 2/19, and 2/23, so save those dates!). Musicians will receive two tickets each for you to come and watch.
JV Jazz and Honors Jazz Concert, Monday, December 14th at 6PM in the Lecture Hall. Students will receive tickets in class for this event.
Concert Band/Symphonic Band Update:
It's hard to believe that Thanksgiving is just around the corner. The football season has come to an end and the holiday season and end of the semester is fast approaching! This is an update of what we have going on the remainder of the semester. I will send another update closer to any events as a reminder since I know the holiday season can get busy.
The WHS Concert Band and Symphonic Band Concert will be on Wednesday, December 9th at 6:30PM, in the WHS Gymnasium. Tickets will go home that week for your musician.
If you are out and about, Honors Jazz Band will be performing at A Dickens Christmas, Saturday, December 5, at 1PM at Fitters.
And our final performance this semester will be the WHS JV Jazz and Honors Jazz Band Concert on Monday, December 14th, at 6PM in the Lecture Hall. Tickets will go home the week prior for your musician.
We will send information out in December when we have an idea of what second semester is going to look like. This will also include winter drumline information, so stay tuned.
10/19/2020 Update:
Happy 2nd quarter to everyone!
Thank you, for an incredible concert on Wednesday. The students did a fabulous job learning so much and rolling with everything in that brief week and a half! WELL DONE! We also had over 600 people tune in to the broadcast. This is something that we hope to keep so family and friends that are throughout the United States can still see and watch our musicians perform. A huge shoutout to my dad, Charlie Brown, with PrepCast for making that happen for us!
Here are the updates:
This week zero hour starts. We will start promptly at 6:45AM in the gym. Please make sure you arrive in enough time to make your way there with what you need for rehearsals. Drumline will be in the band room with Mr. Narron.
The October 23rd game is CANCELLED! This was the game against Oak Grove that we already played. Please be safe and enjoy your three and a half day break!
SAVE THE DATE!! We will host the first distinct play-off game on Friday, October 30th. Call time will be 6PM and students will be performing our Halloween show in costumes. I am waiting to hear back from administration on the perimeters of what is permissible for costumes. If we win that game we will update you on when our next performance will be.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
10/12/2020 Update:
Happy last week of the first quarter! This quarter has felt like a whirlwind but the students have done a fantastic job with everything that we've thrown their way!
There's a lot of information included in this week's edition.
1.) Concert Wednesday
We have a concert this Wednesday @ 6:30PM. It will take place in the WHS Gymnasium. Call time for students will be 6PM in our band spirit shirts, jeans, and black shoes. Students will receive their two tickets tomorrow during class. You must present a ticket in order to gain access to the gymnasium on Wednesday. Please note, you will need to enter through the North gymnasium doors (down by the pit parking lot).
For those of you that are unable to attend, please use the following PrepCast broadcasting link to view the performance live.
https://team1sports.com/prepcasts/?B=200380
2.) Zero Hour begins Oct. 19th
Zero hour begins next Monday, Oct. 19th. Students will need to be ready to play at 6:45AM. Please let us know if transportation is an issue. The administration moved this credit to second quarter so we could still prepare for our December concert.
3.) Football game update:
Our Oct. 23rd game was against Oak Grove. That game moved to the first home game due to Excelsior Springs cancelling and has already occurred. At this current time we do not know if there will be a game on Oct. 23rd. Mr. Chapman will notify me later this week.
We will most likely host a district play-off game on Friday, Oct. 30th, or Friday, Nov. 6th. Whichever day that occurs we will do a Halloween themed halftime show. The students will be performing Monster Mash, Frankenstein, Ghostbusters, and Thriller in Halloween costumes! We will rehearse this music during class on Thursday and Friday this week.
4.) Virtual Festival of Champions.
The Virtual Festival of Champions will be aired throughout the day on Saturday here. This is UCM's Bands Youtube page. The WHS Guard indoor performance will broadcast at 1:35PM, the WHS Drumline will broadcast at 2:02PM, and the WHS Marching Tigers field show will broadcast at 2:30PM. Awards will then occur at 5PM. Feel free to tune in for any and all of those events.
I know that was a lot of information. Please let me know if you have any questions. As soon as we have definitive dates on the football games I will let you know.
10/5/2020 Update:
Thank you all for joining us this past Friday at the First Friday Art Walk! What a great time it was to showcase our students and their new uniforms downtown to the Warrensburg community.
Please note that our Friday, Oct. 9, football game has been moved to Saturday, Oct. 10. Our call time will be 12PM. We will not dress in full uniform, instead we will wear our WHS Band shirts, jeans, WHS neck gaiter, and marching band shoes. We do understand that some students will be working or out of town, we will be double checking that list and verifying that list this week. Thank you all for your flexibility with this situation that was out of our control.
We will be doing a mix of marching band and Concert Band/Symphonic Band over the next few weeks. We will discuss the procedures with students on Monday morning and explain what our schedule looks like and the safety protocols we have in place for that. Don't forget, we are preparing for a Wednesday, Oct. 14 concert.
First quarter will be ending on Oct. 16th. When it ends, we will transition to Concert Band and Symphonic Band in the gymnasiums during Zero hour since we will no longer have them during first block. We didn't do that 1/4 credit first quarter so that we could still meet during second quarter to prepare for our December concert. Please let me know now if transportation is an issue.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you for your continued support!
Stay safe,
9/28/2020 Update:
It's hard to believe that September is almost done. What a fabulous Friday night we had debuting our new uniforms and for a phenomenal Saturday morning playing at the Farmer's Market. We could not have asked for better weather (well, minus the wind on Saturday for guard)!
This week will be an extremely busy week. Here is the breakdown:
Monday- Symphonic Band auditions due by 11:59PM.
I will be at the school until 8PM for the zoom parent/teacher conferences. If students need to utilize the band room to record their audition that afternoon or evening it will be open but there will be times I will be in my office and unavailable during meetings to help with any technology issues.
Wednesday- Recording Festival of Champions video at UCM.
We will be recording our video at Walton Stadium that morning. Drivers may park in the Multi-purpose parking lot (we've cleared this with UCM Public Safety) and parents may drop their student off at the main entrance (opposite side of where we meet for football games). I will be there with the truck at 7AM. Any student able to be there to help unload the truck would be gladly welcomed and appreciated!
Any students that ride the bus to WHS will meet Mrs. Starr at the front of the high school to then ride a bus over at 7:25AM to the field. We will get a list of who needs to bus over Monday morning during class. Any student that was dropped off at the stadium or rode the bus over will then ride the bus back over to the HS when we are done. Students may not ride with one another (unless they are a sibling). It is a collab day so students will be excused for the first part of second block as we pack up and return to WHS.
We will have a uniform team to help us get suited up but then we will have student leaders need to help put uniforms back on the rack.
Our breakdown of Wednesday morning will be the following:
7:10AM Start suiting up in full uniform (hat wraps, plumes included)
7:40AM Marching fundies and bus riders finish suiting up
7:50AM run the show on counts (we CANNOT play until 8AM since there are residence halls around)
8:00AM warm-up and full run through of show
8:13AM RECORD
8:25AM Picture of band in full uniform in the stands
8:35AM De-suit and pack up
9:00AM Everyone leave and return to WHS
9:15AM Everyone in second block
Friday-First Friday Art Walk
We will be performing on Pine St. I am including a picture of where the truck will be parked on Friday night, it's the red X. We will be in full uniform and we will get suited-up on the one-way street/parking area that gets us to that alleyway. This will allow us to be out of sight while performances are going on. Students need to report at 5:30PM to suit-up and be ready to watch and support the WHS choir at 6PM. We will then perform at 6:30PM and be done at 7:10PM.
Drumline- Schedule for the week
Monday-Zero hour rehearsal
Tuesday-Zero hour rehearsal (in gym)
Wednesday- NO ZERO HOUR BECAUSE WE WILL BE FILMING AT UCM
Thursday- Zero hour, in full uniform, filming indoor show during ZERO Hour
What an exciting week it will be but there are a lot of moving parts!
Just to put October on your radar, we have games 10/9 and 10/23. There may be play-off games after that and I will update you as we go. We also have a Concert Band and Symphonic Band concert on 10/14 in the WHS gym and it will also be broadcast live over Prepcast.
Once again THANK YOU for being flexible and supporting our students. We appreciate you all so incredibly much!
Please let me know if you have any questions,
9/24/2020 Update:
We've made the impossible happen and have only a handful of students to size tomorrow morning!
That being said, WE ARE IN FULL UNIFORM ON FRIDAY for the Homecoming Game!!
Call time is 5:30PM at the Stadium.
Students need to make sure they have their WHS Band t-shirt, shorts, black socks, and black band shoes.
Thank you all for helping us get this accomplished!
A HUGE SHOUTOUT to our Masters of the Uniform and all their extra work and the student helpers that we've had throughout this process organizing hats and hat wraps.
I am incredibly grateful to work with such amazing people.
Saturday morning we will be in our normal band t-shirt, jeans, black socks, and black shoes to allow the uniforms to sit due to our safety protocols and sanitizing.
9/21/2020 Update:
What an exciting Homecoming week this will be with lots of things occurring!
When COVID hit, the company making our new marching band uniforms (Fruhauf) shut down and production halted. We were told we would most likely not get those uniforms until after our season was over. However, after checking -in last week and being told the uniforms would ship at the end of this month, I woke up Saturday morning to an amazing email that said our uniforms had shipped this past Friday. That being said, OUR NEW UNIFORMS ARE ARRIVING THIS WEEK!! Please look for an additional email later this week about what that means for us and some changes that may be occurring. There's a lot of organization and things that have to occur before we could size students and get going with that. Please be patient with us as we work through those things.
We do have two performances this week:
1.) Friday night Homecoming football game (9/25). Current call time is 6PM in our shirts/jeans/marching shoes, however, if that changes due to uniforms I will let you know ASAP.
2.) Family Weekend Farmer's Market Performance (9/26). Call time is 9:40AM with performance time of 10AM. Same spot as our last performance, in band shirt/jeans/marching shoes.
This week we will be focusing on cleaning drill and adding more visuals as we prepare to film our Festival of Champions show the following week. We will also be adding new tunes for the Farmer's Market. We have lots to do and if anyone is absent we will update visuals and things in Canvas. Please make sure you check there for information.
Guard and drumline, your coordinators will be communicating with you all about recording for Festival of Champions and what that looks like.
If anyone wants help or feedback on their audition material for symphonic band, I am at the high school every day for zero hour (6:45AM), I will be staying Monday and Tuesday after school (until 4), and will be there Thursday night from 6-7PM. Please sign-up to come in and work with me. Symphonic Band Auditions are due on Canvas by 11:59PM on Monday, September 28. If you don't have a device to record on, please let me know and we can coordinate a time for you to use technology at the HS. Just a friendly reminder that the cuts are listed on a learning module in Canvas, you will not be preparing the entire packet.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
9/14/2020 Update:
The last two and a half weeks have been a whirlwind of activity with changes and lots of rain but we've not only survived but thrived! The students were so incredibly flexible with Friday night and our warm-up delay. They were resilient and went with the immediate changes we had to put into place and they did it with such grace.
I also want to thank you for coming out on Saturday to support them at the Farmer's Market. Despite the drizzle I am so thankful that the students had that opportunity. We've talked about how we will not take any performance for granted this year.
Please make sure your students are checking Canvas. The kinks have been worked out and we will start to utilize that platform for announcements. There's also a Symphonic Band audition module where students can find the audition information for Symphonic Band. Those auditions will be done through Canvas and students will need to submit their audition recording by September 28 @ 11:59PM.
I provide audition help Monday and Tuesday after school and Thursdays from 6-7PM in the band room. Students can also sign-up to be drafted for Academy for help during the school day. All of these sign-ups are located on the band room door. I want each student to feel empowered and confident in their audition.
This week we do not have any performances. Our next performance will be WHS Homecoming on Friday, September 25, and the Farmer's Market on Saturday, September 26.
Please don't forget our newest calendar update. October 3 has been CANCELLED and Friday, October 2 has been ADDED. We will be performing on Pine St. at the First Friday Art walk.
Lastly, we have extra WHS Marching Tiger t-shirts (only t-shirts). Please let me know if you would like to purchase one.
This week during class we will be focusing on charting our last two pieces and adding visuals as we prepare to film for our UCM virtual Festival of Champions performance. Please make sure your student is on the band practice field by 7:30AM.
Thanks again for your grace and flexibility as we navigate each week and provide the best opportunities for our students during this time.
9/10/2020 Update:
We've had another schedule update that I wanted you all to be aware of.
We were hopeful to be able to do an Oct. 3 performance at the Veteran's Home (outside in the parking lot), however, they are continuing to keep the same precautionary measures in place so we are unable to do that and have cancelled that date. However, Main Street Inc. has invited us to perform Friday, October 2, at the October First Friday Art Walk. We will be performing with the WHS choirs on Pine Street.
Updated date: Friday, October 2, Pine Street. Call time 5:30PM to warm-up. Choir performs at 6PM and we perform at 6:30PM, done by 7:15PM.
Don't forget that we have a game Friday night (9/11), call time is 6PM in performance attire. Students will be dismissed after halftime.
Saturday morning (9/12) we will be performing downtown at the Farmer's Market. Call time is 8:40AM and our performance is at 9AM. Our home base will be on the south side of the Court House (you will see the band truck parked over there). The performance will last around 45 minutes and students will be done by 10AM. Please note, same performance attire as Friday night.
Please let me know if you have any questions!
9/7/2020 Update:
I hope you are having a great three day weekend. I want to send out a special congratulations to our Band Seniors on their recognition on Friday night. We are so very proud of our class of 2021 seniors. Another special thanks for all of you that were there to support us for our first game. The students did an outstanding job.
All Football game performances will be streamed through PrepCast so if you are unable to attend the game you won't miss the halftime performance. It does help that my dad is coordinator for this region and the voice of the WHS Tigers on PrepCast is Mr. Ray:) Here is a link to find last weeks' game as well as for future games and other events for WHS.
https://team1sports.com/prepcasts/
Here are some updates that can also be found under the band updates page at www.warrensburgbands.com.
1.) Our practice field location has changed. Dirt work for phase 2 in the sports facility project will start on Monday. Our new field location is in the Hanna field across from the high school. You will see that they put in a gravel drive for us to use as an entrance. Students need to be on the field in our warm-up position at 7:30AM. They need to plan accordingly and allow enough time for travel to the field so they are not tardy and we can maximize as much rehearsal time as possible. Please note, a band staff member will be there to escort students across the street.
2.) We do have a game on Friday, September 11, call time is 6PM again. I have no idea how that got deleted from the pdf file on the calendar page. My sincerest apologies.
3.) We have a performance this Saturday, September 12, at 9AM at the Farmer's Market. Call time is 8:40AM. We will be on the courthouse lawn. Please come and safely support our students. Performance attire is the same as it will be for Friday night (it's okay if we're smelly, we're outside).
4.) Symphonic Band audition procedures and music are posted on Canvas (and emailed to my honors band students that are still waiting for the honors band canvas class to show up). Students will need to prepare the required music and post it in the Canvas assignment by September 28 at 11:59PM.
5.) I have posted after school times and some Thursday night times for students to come in during the next few weeks so that they can get help with their symphonic band audition material if they would like. Students can also sign up to be drafted for Academy. The sign-ups will be located in the band room by my office door. Please utilize these times! I am there to help and want you to feel confident and empowered for the auditions!
6.) NEW ON THE CALENDAR: Concert Band and Symphonic Band concert will be October 14, 6:30PM in the WHS gymnasium. Important details and guidelines will be sent closer to time. Please save this date! It will also be broadcast through PrepCast.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
8/31/2020 Update:
This week is going to be an exciting week! This Friday will be our first home game! Here are some important details for the coming week, they are also posted on the band website, www.warrensburgbands.com:
1.) We have been having some Canvas issues. They are trying to work out these technical difficulties and many may find band not showing up on their Canvas account. Please be patient, our tech team is working directly with Canvas to try to resolve these issues.
2.) First HOME GAME THIS FRIDAY. Please note all performances are required. Call time will be 6PM in performance attire at UCM's Walton Stadium. It should be in the 70s so it will be spirit wear shirts with jeans, WHS neck gaiters, and black socks/marching shoes. (Students should be receiving their spirit wear and shoe order Thursday, just in time for game day). Students will be dismissed after the halftime performance. Please note, there will be extra safety measures in place and we will be in a different location than years past. Still on the same side but farther down. Students will need to provide their own water, we will not have cups and water available.
3.) It's SENIOR NIGHT at the game this Friday. That's right, it's the first game and senior night. Senior parents I will send out a detailed email once I receive the plan from Mr. Chapman this week. Senior band students will be recognized during halftime.
4.) Any sophomore-senior wanting to take Honor's Band to receive honors credit needs to have this form filled out by Tuesday. Students must use their warrensburgr6.org email to fill out this form.
8/18/2020 Update:
I wanted to let you know of some changes and updates that have occurred. We’ve discussed these changes already with the students at band camp but want to make sure everyone knows how first semester will look.
Update on the schedule:
Order forms:
Please note, the marching band performance uniform order is being sent in today. If I have not received an order form and payment from you, students will be limited to ordering only a t-shirt; they will not have the opportunity for long sleeves or sweatshirts/hoodies. We want to have our spirit wear ready for our September 4 game.
Parent shirt opportunity:
Mrs. Duncan is in charge of parent t-shirts. I am attaching the link for you to use if you would like to purchase a parent t-shirt: https://forms.gle/Bsv7v6geNQ5vH6Xe6
Please note, we will continue to update you on anything that changes. We appreciate your flexibility as we navigate through this all.
I am excited for our 2020-2021 school year. While it may not look like it has in the past, we will create new experiences and adventures this year with memories that will last a lifetime!
Thank you,
Mrs. Ray
7/24/2020 Update:
Hello WHS Band Families and Students,
As you are aware, there have been cancellations and changes in the competitive marching band circuits due to COVID-19. We will not be traveling and competing like we have in the past but we are not allowing this to stop us. If anything, this opportunity is allowing us to be creative and bring a new, fresh, and unique offering for performance on the field.
Our goal through this entire process is to grow and stretch our students, explore new skills and provide performance opportunities for them, despite the unprecedented times we are in. We will continue to provide students with engaging experiences and a safe place through this journey.
You will see that we have modified our marching band camp schedule. We believe it’s important for our students to be able to come together and make music again, with precautions and safety procedures in place. Our top priority is safety and we’ve created our safety guidelines (that you will find attached) with up-to-date, research based, information. Please note, this is a constantly evolving situation and is subject to change, we will update you as more information becomes available.
Our goal is to provide two different shows this season for our audience at football games. We will announce the first theme at camp and provide music at that time. The second theme will be selected at a later date with our senior class. We are excited to give them this opportunity to help in the creative process. We are also working on outdoor performance opportunities that allow us to invest in the Warrensburg community.
You will see that our order forms have been updated. There will be NO food fee this year. On the supply order form, you will see that we’ve removed the dry cleaning fee. Instead of wearing our former traditional uniforms (new uniforms have been delayed), we will be utilizing a spirit wear option. Students will wear the newly designed marching band shirt with black shorts when it is warm and with full length blue jeans (no holes) when it cools off, black socks, and marching band shoes.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. Safety is our top priority and at the forefront of all our planning.
Thank you,
Mrs. Ray and Mrs. Starr

7/22/2020 UPDATE:
Hello! As many of you are aware, there have been cancellations and changes in the competitive marching band circuit this fall due to COVID-19. We are aware of these changes and are currently working with WHS administration on what our coming season will look like. We will send out an update this weekend with what those changes entail and while it may not look like our traditional season we are excited for the creativity and learning that will take place. Please know we want what’s best and safest for our students and that is at the forefront of our planning.
Thank you,
Mrs. Ray and Mrs. Starr

Please note, we were going to create a google classroom but the district will be using another online platform and we are waiting for access to that. Sorry for the delay!

- 1st quarter will be all Red day classes. This means that students will have band first block every day from 7:30-9AM. Since this is the case there will be NO zero hour 1st quarter.
- 2nd quarter will be all White day classes. In order to still be able to prepare for our December concert, zero hour will occur during 2nd quarter. So all of second quarter, in order to still have concert band, students will report to the gym for rehearsals from 6:45AM-7:25AM. They will receive 1/4 credit.
- Also, please note, since we will be meeting 1st quarter every day, we will not do Thursday Night Practices.
Update on the schedule:
- Meet the Tigers is still occurring, however, it’s now going to be at the WMS Football Stadium instead of here at the high school.
- You will see on our schedule that our focus is on performances in Warrensburg. We will be performing at all of the Friday night football games. We will also be performing September 12 at the Farmer’s Market (socially distanced) and September 26, as well. They just announced this past week that Burg Fest was cancelled but we will still be downtown performing (again socially distanced) that morning. We will also have a performance October 3 and are just waiting on confirmation from this specific location.
- The week of WHS Homecoming (September, 221), we will be performing at the entrances of all our elementary schools to greet them. Students will still report like normal to the HS and then we will provide bus transportation to those locations.
- District Band and District Jazz Auditions have been moved to 2nd semester. They will all occur electronically. Please continue to prepare the music because we will be using that music for Symphonic Band Chair Placement Auditions and will announce when we will record your audition excerpts.
Starr

We will send out an update this weekend with what those changes entail and while it may not look like our traditional season we are excited for the creativity and learning that will take place.
